Carole is seriously committed to engaging students in the culinary arts and passing on her considerable knowledge especially in the many ways of home preserving.
As a business and technology professional with experience in food science, technical writing, and product development, Carole Cancler is one smart, multi-talented and savvy lady. She spent 11 years at Microsoft as a software engineer and program manager. Her writing expertise includes business intelligence, websites, newsletters, and recipe development.
After becoming involved with Bon Vivant, she began to seriously pursue her love for the food arts. For 14 years, she owned Private Chef Natural Gourmet in Seattle specializing in frozen gourmet meals. In addition to the Slovenian culinary influences passed from her mother and grandmother, she has traveled to over 20 countries, most often to attend cooking schools and visit food markets. Among the places she has visited are Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Turkey, Hong Kong, Japan, and Thailand. Carole holds a B.S. in Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Washington. She has also studied at several schools in France, including Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.
If that were not enough, she is a freelance writer whose works can be seen at CBS Seattle, AXS and the Examiner. Did I mention that Carole owns and operates Greater Seattle on the Cheap, a great place to find interesting things to do for little or no money.
